2K Games Announces The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Set for August 20th Release Date

There have been rumors circulating in the past couple weeks about the reemergence of the XCOM first-person shooter that was seen a couple years back at E3, then like cattle grazing on farm green, disappeared suddenly as if it were abducted by aliens. Now, 2K Games has re-announced the game with a new name, and a release date of August 20th in North America, August 23rd in Europe. Oh, and it’s also now a third-person shooter, leaving me to wonder if this really is even the same game from before, or maybe just parts of it.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is being developed by 2K Marin of BioShock 2 fame, and takes place in the 1960s at the peak of the Cold War. That’s when aliens attack, and The Bureau, created to fend off the Soviet onslaught, now has to face off against extraterrestrial foes.

2K has released a live-action trailer for the game, titled The Burn Room, which you can see below. Stay tuned for more on the game in the coming months.
