Capcom Producer Estimates That Street Fighter V Might not be out “Until the Year 2018”

Arriving in early 2014, Ultra Street Fighter IV from Capcom will bring along more stages, balancing, and new characters in the form of Elena, Rolento, Hugo, Poison, and an unnamed character. With all four of those named characters already appearing in Street Fighter x Tekken, Tomoaki Ayano, Producer at Capcom, explained to VG247 that “users do not need to worry because the characters will definitely not just be copy and pasted from Street Fighter x Tekken. If we did that, they would undoubtedly be the strongest characters in the game.”

Looking to the future of Street Fighter, Yoshinori Ono already revealed how he doesn’t have the budget right now for Street Fighter V, with Tomoaki saying, “it took six years to go from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter III, and nine years to go from Street Fighter III to Street Fighter IV.” Based on those facts, he says, “it would probably take us until the year 2018 before Street Fighter V comes out.”

Would you be able to wait until the year 2018 for Street Fighter V? Do you think we’ll see another re-release of Street Fighter IV by that time? Let us know in the comments below.
