Need for Speed Creative Director Would Have Loved if Most Wanted was “Way Bigger Than it Was” on PS Vita

Need for Speed: Most Wanted, the previous title in the Need for Speed series, released last year for the PlayStation Vita, with the Wii U getting a version earlier this year. When Need for Speed: Rivals was announced for release this fall on PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, people wondered what the fate of a potential PS Vita and Wii U version were, but with the game’s release happening next month, we know it’s skipping those two systems.

Creative Director Craig Sullivan told TSA EA’s reasoning behind Rivals not appearing on PS Vita or Wii U:

Honestly, it’s not the kind of stuff that I like talking about in detail, that much. We did a load of extra work on the Wii U version, and we had a lot of guys working on that stuff, you know?

It didn’t really sell that many, in terms of the Wii U market. I would love for it to have, because we put so much effort into that, trust me. I’d love for it to be way bigger than it was, and the same for the Vita.

Since Need for Speed: Rivals is appearing as a launch title for the PS4 and Xbox One, “You have to work out where you focus your efforts,” Sullivan continued. “The 200 people working on this game are only capable of making so much, and doing so many different versions of the game, so we had to go with where we think the biggest audience will be for the game, and that’s where we are.”
