Writer for Original Mirror’s Edge Not Involved With New Game, “Wasn’t Asked”

Depending on what you thought of the story for Mirror’s Edge, this may come as good or bad news. Rhianna Pratchett, the writer for the original game, will not be returning for Mirror’s Edge 2, the sequel announced by EA at E3 last year.

She confirmed in a series of tweets:

It’s really lovely that people care enough to ask whether I’m involved with Mirror’s Edge 2, but I’m not & wasn’t asked. (Cont’d)

Let’s face it ME1’s story didn’t review that great (for many reasons). So I consider myself a casualty of that development process. (cont’d)

By all accounts it’s a new team on it, so go with God, I say. Create cool stuff. We always need more of that.

In addition to the original Mirror’s Edge, Pratchett also penned Heavenly Sword and, more recently, last year’s Tomb Raider reboot. The new Mirror’s Edge is under way from DICE for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but given the continuing problems with Battlefield 4, development may be stagnant at the moment.
