Shuhei Yoshida: No Future PS4 Firmware Update to Turn off DualShock 4’s Light Bar in Games That Don’t Use it

As we wait for the PlayStation 4 firmware update to add Pulse Elite headset support (and hopefully more) likely some time this month, Shuhei Yoshida was once again his active self on Twitter, giving a patented one word answer.

This specific answer did have quite a bit of weight to, with the Sony Worldwide Studios President being asked, “Will a future update disable the [DualShock 4] light bar for games that don’t use the light?” He replied with, “No.”

When he was asked a similar question about being able to turn off the light bar last month, Shuhei said, “I doubt it,” so it seems he’s become more definite. On the bright side, he did mention how he’d like the option to dim the light bar, so maybe there’s hope for that?

Update: Shuhei pointed out that “the LEDs do not use much battery.”

What are your thoughts on the DualShock 4’s light bar? Do you like it? Do you wish you had the option to turn it off? Let everyone know in the comments below.
