PlayStation Home Closes Its Doors on March 31, 2015 in North America & Europe

It will be the end of an era early next year as PlayStation has announced that PlayStation Home will officially be closing its doors on March 31, 2015 in North America and Europe.

Saying it’s “due to a shifting landscape,” all new PlayStation Home content will cease publishing on November 12, 2014, with content remaining available for download until December 3, 2014. Then, before the official closure on March 31, 2015, PlayStation “will also be releasing a series of free content.”

PlayStation offered up this statement:

PlayStation Home has been serving the PS3 community since December 2008. During that time, tens of millions of users around the world have grown the social gaming platform into a thriving community of creative and enthusiastic gamers.

[…] We would like to thank all of our fans for their support of the PlayStation Home platform over the years.

In the FAQ given about the closure, PlayStation revealed you won’t be entitled to a refund, saying, “Due to the progressive and innovative nature of the gaming industry, PlayStation is unable to refund on legacy platform or service experiences.”

And if you’re hoping for PlayStation Home or something similar to come to PlayStation 4, they said, “There are no plans for PlayStation Home to come to PlayStation 4. PlayStation 4 is a powerful next generation console with the connective capability to offer gamers an outstanding social gaming and community experience in brand new ways.”

What do you think about PlayStation Home shutting down?
