Starwhal Brings Local Co-Op Action to PS4, PS3 Next Week

Announced for PlayStation last year, developer Breakfall has confirmed that Starwhal is releasing for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on February 24 in North America and March 4th in Europe. Priced at $11.99, the game includes cross-buy.

Originally a 48hour game jam title, Starwhal features local co-op and is centered around competitive matches where narwhals duel it out in a retro version of deep space.

For this console release of Starwhal, you’ll find it running at 30fps on PS3 and 1080p/60fps on PS4. As well, there’s new modes, new arenas, new visual effects, an extended soundtrack, over 9,000 costume combinations, and 32 solo challenge courses that let you earn Trophies.

Designer Mike Keogh adds:

Physics and performance have been optimized to give you the best possible console experience, so you’ll feel every blubbery impact as though a majestic marine mammal is in the room with you. Spectacular effects during slow motion collisions will have you asking if you’re looking at amazing graphics, or if your mind has just opened to a new level of consciousness.

The game has always played best with a controller in hand, and Sony knows how to build a great controller. But now, with DualShock 4, you’ll never lose track of your ‘whal as the controller lights up to match the color of your daring space beast! Your trigger fingers become one with the slippery hide of the colorful Starwhal for maximum immersion!

Are you ready for the craziness of Starwhal?
