Crytek Signs New Licensing Deal With Unknown Company

Crytek, the studio behind the Crysis games and the impressive CryEngine, has apparently signed a new licensing deal with a mystery company.

While talking with Develop at GDC, PR head Jens Schaefer and Crytek co-founder Faruk Yerli talked briefly about the deal. Many people had thought that after Crytek’s financial struggles the company would need to find investors, but apparently they made a licensing deal instead. Schaefer mentioned that it was “a huge one,” and said more details will hopefully be coming soon.

A lot of people are under the impression we had to find a new investor or something, but that wasn’t the case. We made a licensing deal.

It was a huge one, probably the biggest one. I can’t say anything more in detail, but hopefully we’ll be able to announce it with the partner soon.

Which company do you think Crytek made the deal with? Let us know in the comments below.
