Report: Games-Focused YouTube Livestreaming Service to be Announced at E3 2015

Having missed out on acquiring Twitch last year, Google appears ready to relaunch their own YouTube livestreaming platform, according to streaming industry sources speaking to Daily Dot.

Potentially making the announcement during E3 2015 between June 16 – 18, the report says YouTube Live would have a renewed focus on live gaming and eSports specifically, putting it in direct competition with Twitch.

As one source said:

Gaming and eSports in particular are going to be a big driving force for the new-look YouTube Live. There’ll be huge opportunities for established streamers and organizations soon and I would say that the record numbers of eSports viewers are only going to grow when Google start promoting and partnering with these events.

Another source says hiring has already begun, with a reported 50 engineers with streaming expertise already on the team.

When YouTube replied to questions about the report, they pointed Daily Dot to this gif.
