Microsoft Boss Clarifies That Rise of the Tomb Raider Still an Xbox Timed Exclusive

It’s no secret by now that Rise of the Tomb Raider will eventually appear on other platforms that doesn’t have the Xbox brand attached to it — though we don’t know when this will actually happen.

However, over on Facebook, the official Xbox Australia page updated a post from January 2014 to say that Rise of the Tomb Raider is no longer a timed exclusive, but really “exclusive.”

So, what changed? Apparently, nothing, as when asked on Twitter about this exact Facebook update, Microsoft Xbox brand boss Phil Spencer mentioned that nothing has changed since the initial reveal; Rise of the Tomb Raider is still a timed exclusive to Xbox, which is the initial deal brokered with Square Enix.

Set to come out this year for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Rise of the Tomb Raider is the sequel to Crystal Dynamics’ highly successful gritty reboot of the franchise, which is expected to make its way onto the PlayStation 4 and PCs at some point down the road.
