System Shock 3 Announced, Survey Mentions PS4 and Xbox One

Hinted at last week through a teaser site, developer OtherSide Entertainment (Underworld Ascendant) has officially announced System Shock 3, which is “currently in the early concept stages of development.”

System Shock 3 will see Terri Brosius reprise her role as SHODAN, with members of the original System Shock and System Shock 2 development teams a part of the sequel. This includes Paul Neurath, who oversaw the original series’ development; Nate Wells, System Shock 2 Senior Artist; and Waters, Lead Concept Artist on both games.

OtherSide explained how System Shock 3 came to be:

The path to bring the System Shock franchise forward was long and winding. Several years back, OtherSide secured the exclusive IP rights to all future versions of the franchise. Only recently, through partnership with Night Dive Studios, who owns the System Shock trademark, did OtherSide get the rights to use the System Shock name for the sequel.

Platforms haven’t been confirmed for System Shock 3, but a survey does mention PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when asking about your preferred gaming machine.

In other System Shock news, we heard in November that the System Shock Enhanced Edition is planned for release on consoles.
