Mortal Kombat X Enhanced Online Beta Coming to PS4 & Xbox One This Month

As part of their mission to improve the Mortal Kombat X online experience, developer NetherRealm Studios announced that an enhanced online beta will begin later this month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

They explained:

We at NetherRealm are constantly trying to enhance and enrich the experience of our games, and improving the online experience is among the most requested areas of our player base. With the MKX Enhanced Online Beta, we are exploring new technology and methodology to bring our fans more responsive, seamless online matches. Throughout this multi-week event, we will be listening to our fans as they tell us what is working, and more importantly, what still needs improvements. For those who join the event, we encourage, and are open to feedback following every match.

Sign ups for the closed public beta will go live on January 19 through the beta website. If you want to participate, NetherRealm is looking for existing players who have logged at least one hour of online playtime. When the site is live, you’ll need to choose your console platform, enter the email to your WBPlay account connected to your game, sign up, and then wait for a beta code when they are sent out next week.

As revealed in the video, the enhanced online beta will include four playable characters at launch: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Jacqui Briggs, and Johnny Cage. More characters will be added as time goes on.

The FAQ adds, “The gameplay experience in this beta will center around 1v1 online play in order to test improvements made to our online experience.”

Mortal Kombat X will continue to receive DLC fighters later this year in the Kombat Pack 2.

In yesterday’s NPD report, it was revealed that MKX was the 8th best selling game of 2015 in the United States at retail.
