Concept Art for Possible Hironobu Sakaguchi and Mistwalker Console Game Emerges

Hironobu Sakaguchi, otherwise known as the founding father of the Final Fantasy franchise, has showcased early concept art for what is potentially a new console game from Mistwalker.

News of Sakaguchi-san’s next creative effort comes by way of Twitter user VoltySquirrel, noting that the stylized artwork glimpsed above is a product of Character Designer Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard, The Last Story).

Showcased during a Hawaiian creative media master class hosted by the UH West Oʻahu Library, a now-pulled video featured Sakaguchi offering a handful of details regarding the project, with plans to fully reveal said title in about a year’s time.

Details for the as-yet-unannounced Mistwalker title are, as you would imagine, thin on the ground. Even still, reports that the developer is creating a new game potentially for current-gen consoles ought to pique the interest of fans of the studio’s past work, be it The Last Story, Blue Dragon and/or Lost Odyssey
