Nolan North on the Uncharted Movie: “I Think It’s Got an Uphill Battle”

Still set for release on June 30, 2017, the long in development Uncharted movie was discussed by Nathan Drake actor Nolan North in an interview with Daily Star. According to North, those who’ve read the script compare it to Indiana Jones and National Treasure:

People who’ve seen the script are comparing it to Indiana Jones and National Treasure, but there’s still a lot of work and truthfully, I think it’s got an uphill battle.

North also revealed that he wanted the part of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie 10 years ago when he was in his mid-thirties, “but it’s taken forever.” He later joked, “Who knows, maybe by the time the producers get it together, I’ll be old enough to play Sullivan.”

As for who should play Drake, North doesn’t see Mark Wahlberg in the role, and instead thinks Chris Pratt would do a good job:

I thought Chris Pratt would do it justice, but guess what? He did it already in Guardians of the Galaxy – that was a Nathan Drake character. He’s vulnerable, he’s kinda funny, he’s kinda that hero with a smirk, cocky and confident. That scene when he says ‘I’m Starlord’ that’s such a Drake moment.

From what I can tell he was even offered the role but he turned it down. What does that say?

If the Uncharted movie ever does get made, North doesn’t really want to do a cameo. “I’m not going to be a guy who walks into the camera and says, ‘Your drink Mr Drake,'” he said. “I don’t need that funny Where’s Waldo thing on my CV.”

Back in April, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann said, “Last I heard is they got a new screenwriter, but we haven’t seen anything in a while.”

Who do you think should play Nathan Drake?
