October 2016 was a strong month in the UK for physical software sales, with revenue rising 50% year-over-year to £90.5 million and unit sales rising 41% to 2.4 million, GfK Entertainment revealed to MCV.

FIFA 17 and Battlefield 1 were the top two best-selling games in October, helping EA become the top publisher during the month. Overall, EA games accounted for 42.2% of all units sold and 47.5% of all revenue last month.

Here’s the top 10 best-selling games at retail in the UK in October 2016 (October 2 to 29):

  1. FIFA 17
  2. Battlefield 1
  3. Mafia III
  4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
  5. Gears of War 4
  6. WWE 2K17
  7. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration
  8. Forza Horizon 3

Skyrim Special Edition, which was only available for two days during the sales period, was a driving force behind Bethesda going from #13 to #4 in the publisher rankings. The successes of Mafia III and WWE 2K17 helped 2K Games finish second in the publisher rankings.

Expanding on FIFA 17’s sales success so far, EA is reporting that total sales are up 13% compared to FIFA 16.

On the hardware side of things, the Xbox One outsold the PS4 by 25,000 units in October 2016 in the UK.
