NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice 2 hasn’t been seen in a few months, but the developer teamed up with IGN to release a new video showcasing the game’s combat. It stars one of the game’s new heroes, Supergirl, who looks like she’ll be able to hold her own in a fight just fine. Check out the video above for two minutes of footage.
The video starts by showing off several of Supergirl’s combo moves. “The last daughter of Krypton” is a long-range opening attack that can be the start of a devastating set of attacks. Also shown off were the “crossroads of time,” which is a series of punches, and “matrix,” which is a kick that can be linked into a powerbomb attack.
Supergirl’s various special attacks were also displayed, and she has several moves in common with her cousin Superman, such as the freeze breath attack. Her moveset focuses on speed over power, though, and she works best when attacking from range. Particularly impressive was her walking heat vision attack, and her teleport punch that can quickly have her switch sides.
The video ends with an awesome look at her super move, which is called “asteroid shower.” It has Supergirl carrying her opponent into space, throwing her into an asteroid, and then delivering a giant heat vision blast that sends them crashing back to Earth. Check out the IGN’s complete video, as these moves look as awesome as they sound.
Injustice 2 is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017. It’s the sequel to NetherRealm Studios’ 2013 fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and is the developer’s first game since Mortal Kombat X.
