If wrestling fans want to Angle slam their opponents and be an American hero, they’ll have to pre-order WWE 2K18. 2K announced that Kurt Angle will return to Yuke’s wrestling game for the first time in over a decade, but only as a pre-order bonus. Those that order the game prior to its October 17, 2017 release will get to play as two versions of the Olympian: his “American Hero” phase in the WWE and the “Wrestling Machine” gimmick that he used while under the ECW brand. The official pre-order bonus trailer will premiere on the Monday, July 10 episode of Raw, which Angle currently serves as an on-screen General Manager.
Here’s what Kurt Angle had to say about finally being back in the WWE games:
“I was thrilled to return to WWE earlier this year, be honored as a WWE Hall of Fame inductee and find a new home with the best in the business every Monday night as the Raw General Manager. And now, I get to follow in the footsteps of many incredible names, like Bill Goldberg, Sting, Ultimate Warrior and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and be featured as the WWE 2K18 pre-order character.”
2K’s Vice President of Marketing Chris Snyder also chimed in on the announcement. “Kurt Angle has been the most fan-requested Superstar in the WWE 2K franchise for some time now, so it’s a pleasure to celebrate his popularity and incredible career through this year’s WWE 2K18 pre-order offer,” said Snyder. “His WWE and amateur wrestling achievements are also a perfect fit to help carry the torch for this year’s ‘Be Like No One’ worldwide marketing campaign. There’s no question Kurt succeeds on his own terms in everything he does.”
WWE 2K18 is set to release October 17, 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Early Access players will be able to get the game four days earlier on October 13, and former WWE Champion Seth Rollins will be on the cover.
