Gran Turismo Sport update 1.02 added multiple features to the newly released racing game, but that doesn’t mean that it’s totally feature complete. Developer Polyphony Digital has detailed why the Gran Turismo Sport decal uploader isn’t yet included in the racing game’s “News” section. According to them, it wasn’t included in order to alleviate “extreme serve loads,” and that online features will be introduced gradually.
Here’s the full explanation regarding the Gran Turismo Sport decal uploader:
On the official Gran Turismo website, we are planning to provide online features linked to Gran Turismo Sport. These online features include ‘My Profile,’ ‘Activity Feed’ and ‘Discover,’ as well as ‘Decal Uploader,’ which allows you to upload decals made by users to be used within Gran Turismo Sport ‘Livery Editor.’
In order to maintain a good gaming experience by alleviating extreme server loads immediately after the start of hte service, we are planning to release these online features gradually.
We will notify users about the start of service for the additional online features in-game and on the news section of gran-turismo.com.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience until we release those features.
For more on the racing game, check out our Gran Turismo Sport review-in-progress that touches on single-player and VR modes. Here’s a snippet of what I had to say:
I’ve got to say that I’m left pretty underwhelmed by Gran Turismo Sport so far. The single-player content has been as dull and sterile as the game’s presentation. None of the modes have grabbed me, and as Street Fighter V previously showed when it launched, it doesn’t matter how good the gameplay is if it isn’t offered up in a compelling manner. As someone who mainly comes to racing games to play solo, I’m left wanting a lot more out of GT Sport. It’s lacking so far behind of its contemporaries in terms of solo content.
Gran Turismo Sport is available now.
