New PlayStation App Update Brings Overhauled Look to App

If you’re an avid user of the PlayStation App, then today is your lucky day. In a recent blog post over at the PlayStation Blog, Sony has detailed that their mobile app has received a significant makeover, giving it an entirely new look.

According to Brian Dunn – the Senior Marketing Manager for PlayStation Now – the app was updated with an entirely new design that is intended to create a more intuitive, smoother experience for players looking to stay connected with their friends and the games they play.

The first thing you might notice when you boot up the new PS App is the tabs on the bottom of the screen. Those tabs now exist for popular features such as What’s New, Friends, and your Profile. According to Dunn, this will make it easier and faster to switch between viewing who’s online, what they might be playing, and also keeping up with the latest activities and posts from your friends.

What might be most important, however, is that the app now offers a more streamlined approach to accessing the PlayStation Store, redeeming codes, Trophies, as well as making it easier to view what PlayStation games are new and upcoming. However, the Live from PlayStation feature has been cut from the new app, though players will still be able to spectate other game broadcasts from the dashboard of the PS4.

If you don’t have the PS App installed yet, it’s still free download through the App Store on iOS 9.0 or later or through the Google Play Store on Android 4.1 or later. Sony has said they still have some improvements in store, but now is as good a time as any to get acquainted with a fresh new app.
