A Utawarerumono Action Game is In Development, and More

Aquaplus revealed recently that they’re remaking the first title of the Utawarerumono series for PlayStation 4 and Vita, but that’s not all the company has in store for its popular series. The latest issue of Famitsu (put online by Ryokutya2089 and translated by Siliconera) reveals that Aquaplus is working on three or four new Utawarerumono titles. One of those will be taking the series in a new direction!

The new Utawarerumono title detailed in Famitsu, codenamed UTZ, will be an action title. Despite sharing its codename with a chip brand, UTZ will indeed be keeping in the spirit of the Utawarerumono series, as the scenario writers from the main series will helping with the new title as well. Aquaplus President Shimokawa is hoping that by branching out genres, more people will be able to enjoy the series.

That’s not all the new Famitsu has given us, though! They’ve also provided the first screenshots of the upcoming Utawarerumono remake, which will bring the PS2 title up to modern console standards. Here’s a quick look:

Pictures can say a thousand words, but actual words are also helpful. Read up on the Utawarerumono remake with Kite’s article:

Utawarerumono: Lullaby to the Fallen People will be out in Japan on April 26, 2018. Note that although the sequels to UtawarerumonoMask of Deception and Mask of Truth, have been released worldwide, this first game still hasn’t seen an English localization as of yet. We hope that this remake of Lullaby to the Fallen People could also mean a chance for them to finally localize the first title to the international audience.

Are you looking forward to more Utawarerumono titles?
