Now that the announcement has at for a day, Bandai Namco has releases a bit more information regarding the game and what we can expect from it.

In a release sent sometime after SoulCalibur VI had been announced, Bandai revealed that the upcoming fighting game will retain the series’ signature 8-Way Run movement system, providing players with “smooth 3D movement” while also promising to add “new gameplay system such as the exciting Reversal Edge.” The Reversal Edge, according to Bandai Namco, “ enables characters to clash against each other and follow-up with powerful counterattacks based on their opponent’s actions.”

As far as the story goes, SoulCalibur VI takes place in the 16th century and revisits the events of the original game. Players will uncover hidden truths while playing with a lineup of new and old characters, including series favorites Mitsurugi and Sophita. “The fast and kinetic gameplay of SOULCALIBUR is on full display in SOULCALIBUR VI,” said Mark Religioso, Brand Manager for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “A stellar lineup of characters and weapons, combined with a simple control layout means gamers of all skill levels can jump into the action and decimate the competition.”
