Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is Getting an Actual Arcade Edition

In what is one of the more bizarre turn of events in the Street Fighter V story, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is, uh, coming to arcades. Yes, the latest version of the turbulent fighter that is named Arcade Edition despite never being an actual arcade game, is fixing that in retrospect.

Street Fighter V remains a PlayStation 4 “console exclusive,” with the PC version being something that Sony plays nice with despite being involved financially with Street Fighter V‘s development, even having cross-platform play up and running on it since launch. This new arcade version will be based on the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, so it sounds like a port rather than something needing to be built from scratch.

Additionally, one of the more interesting details is that the cabinet will feature USB ports, so if you have one of your own, custom sticks you can’t divorce yourself from, or you’re one of the mavericks who insists on using a DualShock 4, you’ll probably still be able to use your home setup out in the arcades, assuming you’re able to come across one of these bad boys.

Per Gematsu, Capcom will be running location tests at the following spots in Japan, from October 3 – 5, 2018:

  • Taito Station Shinjuku Minamiguchi Game World in Tokyo
  • Plaza Capcom Kichijoji in Tokyo
  • Nagoya Leisurelan Sasashima in Nagoya
  • Sega Namba Avion in Osaka
  • Round One Fukuoka Tenjin in Fukuoka

There is currently no release date or window in place for this release.
