Gran Turismo 7 Release Date

PlayStation Showcase: Gran Turismo 7 Heads to PS5 and PS4 in March, Trailer Showcases Campaign and Livery Editor

Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment have revealed Gran Turismo 7 is arriving on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 4. During the Playstation Showcase presentation, a new trailer also took a look at some of the game’s main features, including the campaign and the livery editor.

Campaign will be returning in Gran Turismo 7 and has been redesigned so “individual players will take their own unique journeys and gain life learning experiences”. Players will need to earn their licenses and choose between all of the available races to earn enough Exp to level up and credits to spend improving their collection. The campaign and all of the game’s other features can be started from the GT World Map.

Livery editor was a popular mode in Gran Turismo Sport and it returns in GT7. However, it will have an improved user interface and better accessibility. After all, you’ll want to customise the “huge catalog” of cars within your collection. The GT Café will offer specific collections of cars from the past, present and future. The Café will have its own missions to complete for which players will need to have won prize cars from their races across the world. Cars can also be acquired from Brand Central and the Used Car Dealership.

Alternatively, players can start off with a stock car that can be customised in many different ways, such as engine performance, suspension, transmission gearing, brakes, and tires. GT Auto allows further customisation, like wheel changes, wide body modifications, roll cages and aerodynamic parts. You can even go as far as changing the oil and washing the car. Once the car is perfected, Scapes offers the ability to create photorealistic shots through HDR technology, expert level effects and panning shots. With over 2,500 locations available between 43 countries, car lovers have plenty of opportunity to show off their collection in unique ways.

Legendary circuits like Trial Mountain and High-Speed Ring are also returning but in higher detail to account for the PS5’s increased capabilities. Some of the layouts will have been tweaked too. Of course, they’ll be far more entertaining under the unique time/weather change simulation. Polyphony Digital has analysed a “massive amount” of meteorological data to create “real and complex skyscapes and changes in light for different times of day and weather”.

More information is promised for the future. At least the team dispelled the rumor of yet another delay following a move out of 2021. However, they didn’t mention whether the recent rumors of a beta are true, so we’ll have to wait and see for that one.
