PlayStation Partner Awards 2021 Japan Asia

PlayStation Partner Awards 2021 Japan Asia to be Held in December

It’s that time of the year again. Sony has announced the official schedule for the PlayStation Partner Awards 2021. This year’s event will run December 2-3, 2021. As with last year, the event will celebrate successful titles from creators across Japan and Asia along with special awards. Unlike last year, however, Sony will announce the award winners via the official PlayStation Japan Twitter account.

Since 1994, Sony has celebrated each year’s titles at the PlayStation Awards. While the company changed the event’s name to “PlayStation Partner Awards” last year, the sentiment has stayed the same: sell enough PlayStation titles, and you can nab yourself a cool-looking trophy with the console’s iconic four symbols.

Unfortunately, this year’s show does not seem to feature a live broadcast. However, each award winner will be announced via the @PlayStation_JP Twitter account. Furthermore, a special video message from each award winner is set to release with prominent voice actor Tomokazu Sugita narrating. Sugita has voiced popular characters in a variety of video games and anime including Gintama.

The awards are unchanged from last year aside from an additional Special Award tier, consisting of three separate award categories:

Grand Award

Awarded to the top three titles developed in the Japan/Asian regions with the highest worldwide sales between October 2019 and September 2020.

Partner Award

Awarded to titles developed in the Japan/Asia region with top-ranked worldwide sales between October 2019 and September 2020, with particularly noteworthy activity results.

Special Award

Awarded to the following three titles:

  1. Titles developed by creators from outside the Japan/Asia region that have amassed the highest sales in the Japan/Asia region from October 2019 to September 2020.
  2. Titles developed in the Japan/Asia region in conjunction with SIE Worldwide Studios that have amassed the highest worldwide sales from October 2019 to September 2020.
  3. Titles developed in the Japan/Asia region that released alongside the PlayStation 5’s launch with particularly noteworthy activity results. (Taking into account player numbers)
