Tom Holland Wants To Make a Jak and Daxter Movie

Spider-Man and Uncharted actor Tom Holland has said that he’d like to make a Jak and Daxter movie and take on the role of Jak. During an interview with GameSpot, Holland was asked what video game or video game franchise he’d like to turn into a movie if he was handed a blank check, to which he said, “I would like to make a Jak and Daxter movie and I would play Jak, but I would make it A24 so really weird and, like, dark.” He added that his movie would be a “really weird live-action version of Jak and Daxter.”

Naughty Dog explored making a new Jak and Daxter

Naughty Dog veterans have expressed their fondness for Jak and Daxter on numerous occasions, with co-president Evan Wells once stating that the studio explored the idea of a new game in the franchise before The Last of Us (2013) began development. Naughty Dog even considered making a reboot but didn’t pursue anything. Although there’s no Jak and Daxter in development, the developer isn’t shutting the door on the series so never say never.

The latest release in the franchise was a 2017 collection on the PlayStation 4. In terms of new releases, the series hasn’t seen anything since 2009’s Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier.

Opinion: A new Jak and Daxter will make me feel better about losing Crash

Zarmena writes… Sony losing Crash Bandicoot to Microsoft kind of stings, given the series’ history on PlayStation platforms. But if Naughty Dog pulls Jak and Daxter out of the vault and resurrects the franchise, it might serve as a bit of a Band-Aid. In the meantime, we can get our platforming fix from Ratchet & Clank, but make no mistake, Jak and Daxter has an identity of its own and it’s certainly worth exploring again.

In other news, Deviation Games’ PS5 shooter will reportedly come with a single-player campaign, and FromSoftware almost shelved Demon’s Souls’ Old Monk boss.
