Battlefield 2042 Players Are Petitioning for Refunds

Battlefield 2042 hasn’t exactly had the start that Electronic Arts and DICE hoped for. The game, which is a departure from the series, was touted as a change in direction but ended up falling flat on its face straight after launch. Over the past month, Battlefield 2042 has seen its player count dwindle and its publisher acknowledge that it failed to meet sales expectations. Now, players are petitioning for refunds, hoping to get a response akin to measures CD Projekt RED took after Cyberpunk 2077‘s disastrous launch.

EA is accused of misleading Battlefield 2042 players

Much like Cyberpunk 2077, the petitioners claim that EA and DICE deliberately misled customers and accuse the companies of false advertisement. “Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable,” reads the petition, which has become one of the top-signed petitions at Change.org. “Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members. In fact, Battlefield 2042 was so poorly made that even Steam, a highly reputable provider of PC video games, allows customers to get a full refund.”

The petition easily smashed its goal of 50,000 signatures and while that doesn’t translate into any action on EA’s part, it can be enough to catch the publisher’s attention and warrant some kind of a response.

Opinion: EA should consider Battlefield 2042 refunds

Zarmena writes… The age-old argument that people shouldn’t buy a video game at launch needs to be put to rest. Games should be held to the same standard that any other consumer product is held to, and cases of misleading advertisements and broken launches need to be dealt with. Refunding players until Battlefield 2042 is fixed or offering some kind of compensation is the right thing to do.
