A remastered Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is coming to PS4 and other platforms this year. The remastered version features improved visuals, illustrations, and music. The Radical Dreamers Edition will also include Radical Dreamers – Le Trésor Interdit -, the Chrono Trigger spin-off title that inspired Chrono Cross. The game will release digitally in April 2022 for the PS4, as well as Xbox One and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are currently open on the official Square Enix website.
What is the Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition release date?
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will release on April 7, 2022. Some notable improvements include upgraded models and fonts for high-definition displays. Original character designer Nobuteru Yuuki also returned to create all-new character artwork and illustrations for the game. Furthermore, the original composer Yasunori Mitsuda also refined much of the game’s soundtrack for a more crisp listening experience.
If you don’t like the changes, don’t fret. Square Enix is also letting players choose between playing with all the enhancements or exactly how it was when Chrono Cross released in 2000. And if you didn’t enjoy the original game’s enemy encounter system, the Radical Dreamers Edition will let you turn them off. There will also be other quality of life improvements such as an auto-battle function as well as battle speed settings.
Notably, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will also include Radical Dreamers – Le Trésor Interdit -; a spin-off title released in 1996 for the Super Famicom. Originally intended to be an additional story for Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers eventually became the inspiration for Chrono Cross. As the game required the Japan-exclusive Satellaview peripheral to play, it has never seen a western release until now.
