Haven Studios Co-Founder Sebastien Puel Leaves After Just 10 Months

Sebastien Puel has left Haven Studios, the company he helped found back in March 2021. Puel left at the end of February after just 10 months at the studio, and the departure has led to a new COO and a new Executive Producer within the company, which is currently creating their first game in an original IP that will be exclusive to PlayStation.

What will Sebastien Puel do now?

Sebastien Puel hasn’t revealed what he plans to do now he has left Haven Studios. His LinkedIn profile currently states he is AFK (away from keyboard) and it’s not known whether he plans to stay in the gaming industry. Puel began his career at Ubisoft back in 2004 and worked on titles like the Assassin’s Creed franchise. He left Ubisoft in 2019 to join the Google Stadia Games team as general manager. When the team was dissolved, he co-founded Haven Studios alongside Jade Raymond, Pierre-Francois Sapinski, Paola Jouyaux, Mathieu Leduc, and Leon O’Reilly.

Sapinski will now become the company COO while Jouyaux will now become Executive Producer. Haven Studios told GamesIndustry.biz that Puel will remain on friendly terms with the team:

It’s with great sadness that we share the studio departure of a founding Haveneer, Seb Puel. Seb is a rare talent whose career and track record as a leader speak for themselves and we will miss his energy and enthusiasm as we continue our journey at Haven. Seb remains a dear friend to the Haven team and we wish him the very best in his next adventures.

In other news, No Man’s Sky received another major update today in the form of Sentinel. If you thought Hello Games was slowing down, though, think again because Sean Murray confirmed Sentinel wasn’t the last update “by a long shot”.
