Elden Ring PS5 Save Data Issue Addressed in Latest Patch

As promised last week, FromSoftware has fixed Elden Ring PS5 save data issue, which caused players to lose their progress if the console was turned off unexpectedly either while playing or when in rest mode. The developer had previously asked players to manually save their progress frequently by properly quitting via the system menu. However, Elden Ring’s PS5 version suffered from a bug that caused it to crash unexpectedly so that didn’t help matters. Rest assured, it’s all resolved now.

Elden Ring PS5 patch notes

On February 27th, FromSoftware announced that it had fixed a bug that caused “certain unexpected game closures” on the PS5. Yesterday, the developer announced that it had made changes to save game progression “even when the game is not terminated.” In other words, no more crashes and no more loss of save data.

In addition to the above, FromSoftware has said that it’ll continue to work on other unspecified bug fixes and performance improvements, but that’s par for the course when it comes to new game releases.

Despite its issues, Elden Ring is on track to become FromSoftware’s biggest release ever. The game quickly climbed on top of sales charts and earned universal praise from critics and users alike. The developer thanked fans for their ongoing support and author George R. R. Martin, who helped to craft Elden Ring’s world, expressed how pleased he was with the game’s reception. In a blog, he wrote that he was “honored” to have “played a part, however small, in creating this fantastic world and making Elden Ring the landmark megahit that it is.”
