Gran Turismo 7’s Official Description Suggests Players Can Sell Cars but They Can’t

Gran Turismo 7 cars can apparently be bought and sold, according to the game’s official description. One problem: players can’t actually sell. Reddit user CDMR_Rrah and folks over at MP1st pointed readers towards Gran Turismo 7’s PlayStation Store page, which we’ve checked ourselves, and it indeed states at the time of this writing that players can “buy, tune, race and sell your way through a solo campaign as you unlock new cars and challenges.”

Why selling Gran Turismo 7 cars matters

Gran Turismo 7’s car prices and microtransactions have evoked backlash from players. For the uninitiated, Gran Turismo 7 requires excessive grinding and is pretty stingy with its credit payouts, making it unnecessarily cumbersome for players to purchase some cars without having to fork out real money for them. Being able to sell cars would give players a way to raise funds but the game doesn’t allow that.

What’s particularly interesting is that there’s one trophy, Firm Favorite, that requires buying the same car ten times. This means that trophy hunters will be stuck with ten of the same vehicles because they’re unable to sell. Players on Reddit claim to have contacted Sony support and their local retailers for refunds, citing misleading advertisement.

Opinion: Sony needs to address Gran Turismo 7 issues ASAP

Zarmena writes… Sony’s silence on Gran Turismo 7’s ongoing issues is only exasperating an already-tense situation. The publisher needs to explain the discrepancy between the official description and the final product, and what it plans to do to address players’ concerns regarding microtransactions. Polyphony Digital’s statement regarding the credit nerf is pretty tone-deaf and doesn’t address the elephant in the room.

In other news, CDPR has confirmed that a new Witcher game is in the works, and Sony has announced that Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios is now a part of the PlayStation Studios family.
