Capcom Will Release Double the Games in FY2023 Than it Did in FY2022

Capcom is planning to double its output for fiscal year 2023 with 45 SKUs compared to last year’s 24. In its financial report for 2021/2022, the company projects 37 million units will be sold in FY2023, 10 million from new titles, and 27 million from its previous catalog (which includes remasters and ports). Despite doubling the number of new titles, Capcom’s numbers are slightly conservative, as it sold 32.6 million units last year.

Capcom is releasing twice the number of SKUs in 2023 than in 2022

So far, we only know a few of the major titles Capcom is counting toward its FY2023 projections (via ResetEra).

  • New:
    • Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
    • (More)
  • Catalog:
    • Monster Hunter Rise
    • Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
    • Resident Evil 2 (Next-gen Port)
    • Resident Evil 3 (Next-gen Port)
    • Resident Evil 7 biohazard (Next-gen Port)
    • Resident Evil Village (Possibly DLC?)

We also know that Capcom Fighting Collection and Capcom 2nd Arcade Stadium will be released in the coming months.

That leaves a lot of SKUs unaccounted for, which gives us a lot of room for supposition. Pragmata and Exoprimal are both slated for 2023, but they may be counted here if they release in before October of next year. Street Fighter 6 surely won’t come out this year. So, what are all these mystery games?

Rumors have abounded about the Resident Evil series, and I’d be shocked if we didn’t get a new game this year (aside from RE:Verse). It probably won’t be a main series title, but it could be Resident Evil 4 remake or part of the Revelations subseries. Who knows, we might even see Capcom do something with Outbreak.

However, Capcom is weird with its IPs, so who knows what we’ll see. Maybe Mega Man Legends will make a triumphant return. I’ve got a feeling there will be some very exciting announcements this summer.

In other news, Gotham Knight won’t have microtransactions, and the Sony and Bungie deal will close by the end of the year.
