PS5 topped the charts again when it came to October 2022 console sales, leaving Xbox Series X|S in second place, according to the latest reports. For those keeping track, the current-gen Sony system has been consistently stealing the show, securing both August and September‘s top spots.

According to NPD’s Mat Piscatella, the PS5 was “the best-selling video game hardware of October in both unit and dollar sales.”

Piscatella also confirmed that eight of the top 20 best-selling premium games of October 2022 were new releases. Gotham Knights was highlighted as ranking second in October and being the 14th best-selling game of 2022 so far.
As the holiday season approaches, Sony and its competitors are sure to push the boat out with marketing to convince potential buyers to pick up their hardware.
While the sales figures are topping the charts, there are still many people who don’t yet have a PS5 console. Maybe the GameStop Black Friday sales will convince them to grab the latest Sony system.
