Fan Favorite 2013 PS4 Adventure Game Likely Returning to PS5

It seems one of the most beloved games from 2013 will make a return to PS5. According to a voice actor who starred in the original, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, might be sailing onto current-gen platforms in the future.

Edward Kenway voice actor may have hinted at Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake

In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post from user @TheRealZephryss, a video (provided by X user @SuperDropKick17) showed a fan getting some Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag memorabilia signed by Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan. While signing, Ryan tells the fan that they “may have to beat [Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag] again,” after the fan had told them they had beaten the game a while back. Ryan then followed up by saying, “There’s a reason I say that, but I can’t say anything.”

The Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake is an open secret at this point. Rumors about its existence have been swirling for some time now, with reports going back to 2023, when Kotaku claimed the project was in the very early stages of development. Ryan’s recent comments also seem to imply its existence. Now, it seems it’s only a matter of time until we see a formal announcement from Ubisoft.

Remaking Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag would be one of the least surprising moves from Ubisoft. The company had previously stated it was working on remakes. With Edward Kenway’s seafaring adventure being one of Ubisoft’s most beloved video games, it makes sense that it would be remade for a new console generation.

“Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
