PS5 Pro Overlooked by Sony Yet Again, Players Upset

Today, Sony revealed the new Hyperpop Collection for the PS5. It introduces three new vibrant colorways for the DualSense wireless controller and base PS5 console covers. However, the company has once again overlooked the PS5 Pro, and did not make console covers for the enhanced PlayStation console, which upset players.

PS5 Pro console covers are few and far between and players are upset

The upcoming PS5 accessories release will skip the PS5 Pro, and players have voiced their displeasure online. Under PlayStation’s X (formerly Twitter) post regarding the Hyperpop Collection, many of the replies regard the absence of PS5 Pro-compatible console covers.

“If you’re not going to cater to or make anything for PS5 Pro owners, why did you make and sell it in the first place,” said X user @aklordx.

“It’s hilarious that they don’t make covers for the Pro,” says user @vaugnXvon.

The negative reaction to the lack of new PS5 Pro console covers extends to Reddit. In the PlayStation subreddit, players voiced their frustrations in a post that has since been removed by its moderators.

“Why wouldn’t they make these covers for all models of the current gen? Sony seems to literally never take care of the consumer,” says Reddit user Key_Raisin_8222.

Sony initially implied that multiple PS5 Pro console covers would be made available. However, the enhanced console has only received one console cover since it launched in 2024. Back in September last year, Sony sold Ghost of Yotei accessories, which included PS5 and PS5 Pro console covers based on the latest Sucker Punch game.

For those who have the PS5 slim model, they will be able to grab the new Hyperpop console covers when they become available to preorder on January 16 at 10 a.m. local time. The accessories will officially launch on March 12.
