A divisive 2015 first-person shooter for the PlayStation 4 is officially being removed from the PS Store soon.
What PS4 shooter is shutting down this summer?
In a recent announcement on social media, Electronic Arts revealed that Battlefield Hardline would be removed from digital storefronts on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 22, 2026. As such, the game will no longer be able to be purchased, and any DLC will also note be available to purchase.
A month later, on June 22, 2026, the game’s online services on consoles will be shut down. However, the company notes that “while Hardline will no longer support online functionality on Xbox One and PlayStation®4, players who own the game will still be able to play the single-player component.”
While the console version of the games is being sunsetted, EA notes that the update won’t affect any of the PC players for the game. The game and its online service will remain available there, so fans looking to keep playing the FPS will be able to do so on the PC.
Originally released in 2015, Battlefield Hardline is the fourteenth installment in the Battlefield franchise, and focuses on crime, heist, and policing elements instead of the series’ usual military setting. The game received mixed reactions from fans.
