PS5 and PS4 are getting a surprise reboot of an acclaimed PSP, PS3 sci-fi game that was also ported to the PS Vita. Steins;Gate originally launched in 2009, but it wasn’t available on any PlayStation platform until 2011. The reboot will first launch in Japan, followed by a Western release in 2026.

Spike Chunsoft and Mages previously confirmed that Steins;Gate Reboot will get a Western release in 2026. However, the companies have only announced its Japanese release date thus far.
As spotted by Gematsu, the reboot will launch in Japan on August 20. The outlet reckons that it’ll have the same release date for the West because English language support is already included in the upcoming Japanese release.
Steins;Gate Reboot will feature updated visuals, new story content, user interface improvements, and more.
“Steins;Gate follows a ragtag group of tech-savvy students led by Rintaro Okabe, whose latest invention accidentally gains the ability to send messages to the past, unleashing the power to alter history itself,” an official overview reads. “As global conspiracies stir and timelines begin to twist, the curtain rises on a future steeped in chaos.”
