A brand-new Square Enix PlayStation 5 RPG has gotten some new details. The latest information highlights some of the battle systems in the game, as well as an entirely new system.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World has a ton of new systems in the game
Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is set to release on December 3, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC. Ahead of that, Square Enix has unveiled some of the new things set to appear in the game, including some of its battle mechanics and new synthesis system.
The heroes of the Dragon Quest Monsters series are the monster wranglers themselves, and in The Withered World, you’ll assemble a party of loyal creatures to help you take down other monsters. Players can have up to four monsters in their party, and four in reserve, and can go into battle against other monsters.
In these battles, players can give orders to monsters or give them a general strategy to follow, with monsters being able to utilize a number of different spells and abilities in the fights. Each monster has its own set of traits as well, that have different effects during any given battle.
The game also features a “Synthesis” system, that allows players to combine two monsters into a new one. The fused monster inherits traits from the parent monsters, so players can use this system to essentially create the perfect party of creatures to take with you on adventures.
