The PlayStation 5 port of a recent Xbox open-world game has been quietly delayed. It was previously supposed to hit Sony’s console at some point this year. However, that won’t be the case anymore.
Popular Xbox and PC exclusive Forza Horizon 6 won’t release on PS5 in 2026, according to The Verge’s Tom Warren. He shared the update while responding to a user on X. Later, IGN also confirmed that the report is, indeed, accurate.
Notably, an official update has yet to be confirmed via Xbox regarding Forza Horizon 6’s delayed launch on PS5.
Recent Xbox decisions suggest a different release timeline
While Forza Horizon 6 appears to have been pushed beyond 2026, it doesn’t mean that its PS5 launch has been canceled. Still, the latest report doesn’t paint a positive picture either.
The last time the game’s PS5 launch was mentioned by Xbox was back in January this year. The official X account of Forza Horizon had confirmed its future debut on the PlayStation platform.
In the last few months, a lot has changed when it comes to Xbox’s approach to bringing its exclusives to PS5. Following Asha Sharma’s appointment as the new CEO, it appears Xbox is trying to put the spotlight back on the Xbox console as a priority and having more exclusives moving forward.
For example, Gears of War: E-Day was announced as an Xbox exclusive in June. Surprisingly, there were speculations and reports claiming that it was originally set to arrive on PS5 as well.
As for Forza Horizon 6, its official Wishlist page is still active on the PlayStation Store. This means the game is still expected to arrive on PS5. However, fans will have to wait a little longer for the Xbox and PC exclusive racing title’s release.
Forza Horizon 6 was originally launched on May 19, 2026. It has been a very successful sequel to the last installment in the hit franchise. A report back in June revealed that the latest entry managed to sell 6.4 million copies.
