Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic Gets an Exciting New Update After Major Milestone

Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has crossed a major milestone this week. The game will be Naughty Dog’s first new IP in 13 years, marking a bold new direction for the PlayStation Studios developer. Intergalactic has been in development since 2020, following the release of The Last of Us: Part 2.

In a new post on social media, Naughty Dog announced that it has completed the cinematic motion-capture for the game. “That is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot! This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!” reads the post. The news was accompanied by a portrait of Tati Gabrielle on a production stage holding a prop blaster.

What we know about Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was first announced at The Game Awards in 2025. The upcoming game will be a third-person action-adventure title with sci-fi elements. In it, players step into the boots of bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, played by Gabrielle, stranded on the mysterious planet of Sempiria.

At the time, it was revealed that it entered development in 2020. At the time, the majority of Naughty Dog was working on the now-canceled Last of Us multiplayer game. Intergalactic is being directed by The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann, along with game directors Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau. Besides Gabrielle, the game will also star Halley Gross, Kumail Nanjiani, Tony Dalton, Ashley Scott, and Stephen A. Chang. It also features Robin Atkin Downes, Merle Dandridge, and Troy Baker.

Fans are expecting a new look at the game to be revealed during September’s State of Play showcase. A previous report had revealed that the game was targeting a mid-2027 release window.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet remains in development for PlayStation 5 with no official release date.
