According to a new rumor, remakes of two fan-favorite PS1 classic adventure games are planned for the PS5. 1997’s Tomb Raider 2 and 1998’s Tomb Raider 3, which originally launched as PlayStation console exclusives, are reportedly getting the full remake treatment following their recent current-gen remasters.
Flying Wild Hog reportedly remaking PS1 games Tomb Raider 2 and 3 for PS5
This rumor comes from French outlet PS Inside, which seems to have a decent reputation. According to them, Flying Wild Hog has been tasked with making the remakes. The studio is already working on a remake of the first game, subtitled Legacy of Atlantis.
PS Inside further claims that development of the remakes will proceed irrespective of Legacy of Atlantis’ release status.
While we won’t be surprised if this rumor is true, the claim above seems a little stretched unless Flying Wild Hog is co-developing. But as usual, take all rumors with a grain of salt until official confirmation. For now, the only confirmed remake is 2027’s Legacy of Atlantis, which will release on February 12.
“Experience the pinnacle of adventure with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a stunning reimagining of the 1996 genre-defining game,” an official description reads. “Whether you’re a veteran raider or new to Lara’s world, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delivers jaw-dropping visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, modern game design, and new surprises, while honoring the spirit and atmosphere of Lara Croft’s debut adventure.”
