Fans of classic simulation games can look forward to a unique PS1 game coming to the PlayStation 5 this week. Hamster Corporation has announced that it is releasing Console Archives The Conveni 2 on PS5, originally released on 32-bit consoles in 1997. The surprise announcement comes after Hamster released the first Coveni game on PS5 earlier this year.
The new port of The Conveni 2 will include modern features. The original game had players managing a convenience store in an isometric view. While the game was mostly a hit in Japan, its modern port should help it find success among international gamers. However, there is a catch with the port, as all of its in-game text is in Japanese only. Watch how the updated game plays in the trailer below.
New quality-of-life features make the classic simulation easier to revisit
According to Hamster Corporation, all of the game’s visuals have been revamped, with new maps and an updated camera viewpoint bringing it closer to modern isometric games. The port also includes a “double-speed” mode, along with the function to create original store markers. Inside the stores, players will also be able to add game software to product items.
Other options included in the new release are screen layout adjustment and filters to recreate the feeling of playing on a CRT TV. It will also include save states, customizable controls, rapid-fire settings, and other enhancements. Hamster Corporation also released the rare PS1 game, Sonic Wings Special, on the PS5 earlier this year.
The Conveni 2 will be released on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 for $11.99 on September 3, 2026. The game was originally released on the Sega Saturn, PlayStation 1, and PC. A port of the first game is already available on the PlayStation Store for the same price.
