An upcoming and highly awaited PlayStation 5 RPG has received a free demo on the PS Store ahead of launch. An action-packed trailer for the Square Enix title reveals what players can expect from the gameplay.
During the State of Play showcase, a new look at Final Fantasy Resonance was unveiled with a stunning trailer. Co-developed by Square Enix and Lancarse, it is the first HD-2D game in the Final Fantasy franchise.
The game is based on the first story arc of the 2015 free-to-play mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. It has now been refined and rebuilt as a full-fledged console-quality RPG experience.
The latest trailer confirms that PS5 players can now try out the free demo ahead of the official release. Resonance will definitely keep Final Fantasy fans busy before they step into another franchise title next year, with Final Fantasy Revelation.
What does Final Fantasy Resonance trailer reveal?
Final Fantasy Resonance trailer has confirmed that the iconic antagonist Sephiroth will make an appearance in the HD-2D action RPG. Players can find and challenge him to unlock a special reward if they manage to defeat him.
The free demo for the upcoming game is now available on PS5. Players can begin their journey now in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. They can play the opening through the first chapter, approximately 3-5 hours, and then carry their progress into the full game once it launches.
According to the official description, Resonance is “a celebration of classic and modern Final Fantasy that evokes the beloved titles of yesteryear. This tale of Crystals features a strategic turn-based battle system with a modern twist, the return of chocobos, espers and airships, in addition to appearances from beloved Final Fantasy characters such as Cloud, Tidus and the Warrior of Light – all presented in stunning, retro-inspired HD-2D graphics that push the limits of pixel art.”
Final Fantasy Resonance releases on October 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5 alongside Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
