New Call of Duty Confirmed for 2013, Water Confirmed to Still be Wet

Oh my god. We never thought it would happen. Call of Duty is coming this year! Even Michael Pachter didn’t predict this.

Activision has said in an investor’s call that they will launch a new Call of Duty title in late 2013, causing audible gasps of astonishment from the company’s many investors, such as Satan.

Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed that they don’t think the game will sell as well as last year’s surprise hit, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, explaining:

For Call of Duty, consistent with our past practices, we are planning for the mainline release in Q4 to be down versus 2012.

Beloved CEO Bobby Kotick then proudly revealed that 2012 was “the best year in [Activision’s] history,” but expected a drop in revenue from 2012 to 2013 due to “a challenged global economy” and “the ongoing console transition.” Hirshberg said that console transition made predicting the future harder:

For 2013 on the Activision Publishing side, there is increased volatility this year due to the ongoing console transition, which makes predicting the future more challenging than in normal years in the cycle.

The next Call of Duty is expected to release on both current and next gen consoles, although Activision didn’t specify. It’s also expected to sell a lot.
