Outlast
Outlast, with its focus on surviving, was a welcome change of pace from timid horror games. It was a fantastic dive into the horrifying world of an insane asylum left on its own for years. You played as a mere reporter, and as such had to run for cover whenever you were spotted by any enemy. It felt visceral, it felt scary, and the first-person perspective made everything feel more real.
