Popular 2011 PlayStation 3 Action Game Losing Online Support

One of the best PlayStation 3 exclusive action adventure games is losing online support after 15 years, Sony has announced. Sucker Punch Productions’ Infamous 2 is a single-player game, but includes a user-generated content (UGC) feature that’ll cease to exist after August 2026.

PlayStation pulling the plug on Infamous 2 online features, PS3 trophies affected

Infamous 2’s UGC feature will shut down on August 31, 2026. The move will affect trophies awarded for playing UGC content, so those who want to earn the Platinum trophy need to do so before the aforementioned date.

Sony cited “ongoing technical considerations” as the reason for the shutdown.

The following Infamous 2 trophies cannot be unlocked after the shutdown:

  • Trail Blazer (Play 5 user-generated missions under the Newest filter)
  • UGC Veteran (Play 25 user-generated missions)
  • UGC Curious (Play 10 user-generated missions)
  • Level Up (Create a new mission using the UGC level editor)

Doing the tasks listed above rewards players with Bronze trophies.

Infamous 2’s base campaign will remain playable. What players won’t be able to do is access, browse, upload, download, or play UGC.

Infamous 2 was released in June 2011. A stand-alone expansion, Festival of Blood, was released the same year, in October. The series has not received a new entry since 2014’s Infamous: Second Son and its stand-alone expansion, First Light.
