Rockstar Games‘ team has finally broken its silence on GTA 6 leaks while calling them “heartbreaking.” The anticipated open-world game will launch later this year.
Following last week’s gameplay leaks, Rockstar shared a message on social media to address the current situation. “We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.”
The statement added, “We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has — from getting the game finished (nearly there!)”
Rockstar also confirmed that due to the leaks, Grand Theft Auto VI will now be “impacted by some spoilers” ahead of launch. However, the team promised fans an excellent experience with the new installment in the blockbuster franchise.
Rockstar’s biggest concern after the GTA 6 leaks
Rockstar’s team might be worried about the fact that a lot of crucial gameplay aspects of GTA 6 are now out in the open. The recent leaks provided a clearer look at the map of Leonida, although some reports claim it wasn’t the complete version.
What makes the situation even worse is that the leaker, known only as Cyberleek, is still adamant about sharing more. The individual dropped a new gameplay clip online shortly after Rockstar shared its statement on Wednesday. The video allegedly shows the protagonist, Jason, stealing cars from NPCs, according to Mashable.
Before it arrives globally, GTA 6 will reveal an extended look this week for Netflix subscribers. They will get to witness special teaser trailer footage for the main characters, Jason and Lucia, and the world of Leonida.
GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
