Finally, after an entire year of using that blasted Netflix streaming disc, worry no more PlayStation 3 streamers! A brand new Netflix is coming to a PS3 near you.

If instantly streaming movies and TV shows is something that you like to do, the PlayStation 3 will be your new favorite place to be. Starting Monday October 18th, your streaming media disc will become obsolete. The PS3 version of Netflix will also introduce a new user interface that brings a much richer and faster browsing experience, content search directly on the device, and dramatic improvements in how fast playback starts.

But wait, there’s more! PS3 Netflix users will also get to watch select programs in 1080i 1080p HD, listen to movies in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 channel surround sound, and an ever increasing amount of content with subtitles available. This sounds like the perfect complement to the new PS3 Surround Sound Bar, doesn’t it?

Want to see it in action? Check out more in this demonstration video from Greg Peters, the VP of Product Development at Netflix.
