July 5, 2012 Written by Alex Osborn

If you’re dying to know what happens to Lightning and the rest of the crew following the events of Final Fantasy XIII-2, get excited, because hints from Square Enix point to an impending announcement regarding another direct sequel.

Speaking with Famitsu, director Motomu Toriyama teased additional content, saying:

The [FFXIII-2] Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off.

Make of that what you will, but it sure sounds like he’s alluding to a Final Fantasy XIII-3 announcement, something we’ve all been expecting. Unfortunately it’s not all good news for Final Fantasy fans, as the HD remake of Final Fantasy X appears to be further from completion than you may have hoped. With regard to the game Toriyama only said: “Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more.”

Are you excited at the prospect of more Final Fantasy XIII? Let your opinion be heard in the comments below.
