Ridge Racer Driftopia Announced by Namco Bandai, is Free-to-Play, Headed to PS3 This Year

April 11, 2013 Written by Jason Dunning

Even with the debuts of Flashback and two new Batman games this week, the most surprising game announcement probably comes from Namco Bandai, who have unveiled Ridge Racer Driftopia. This is a free-to-play title that will hit the PS3 (and PC) sometime this year.

Not many details about the game are known at this point, but you can check out the trailer below:

Olivier Comte, Senior VP at Namco Bandai Europe, talked a little about the move to F2P:

At Namco Bandai Games we are committed to embracing new business models alongside the still vital traditional retail sector. Free-to-play is playing an increasingly important role, so it’s very exciting to be bringing one of our most successful franchises to the free-to-play space for everyone to enjoy.
