Shadow Warrior Headed to PS4/Next-Gen Consoles in 2014, Teaser Trailer and Screenshots Inside

Coming to us from developer Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset) and publisher Devolver Digital (Hotline Miami), a “bold reimagining of the Shadow Warrior saga” has been announced, simply titled, Shadow Warrior.

Bringing back Lo Wang, you must locate and find a legendary blade, Nobitsura Kage, which you soon learn has a connection to ancient gods from another realm. Joined by Hoji, a banished spirit, you must use guns, blades, and magic to progress through the game, which can be seen in this teaser trailer and screenshots:

Michal Szustak, Studio Head at Flying Wild Hog, has this to say about Shadow Warrior:

The team here at Flying Wild Hog are longtime fans of the original Shadow Warrior with its unique combat innovations and distinct setting not seen in shooters at that time. The classic arcade-style shooter is a genre we genuinely love, so redesigning the world of Shadow Warrior and the character of Lo Wang has been a fantastic project for the team.

Fork Parker, CFO at Devolver Digital, then added, “You should know that you tangle with twin female assassins and slice off demon heads to use as weapons. It’s super fucking rad.” Also, the official Twitter account for the game reassured a fan that the “humor/crassness” would be present in this retelling.

Shadow Warrior is scheduled to hit Steam this fall, with the next-gen console release (likely download only) scheduled for 2014.
